Generic Propranolol 40mg is classed as a “beta blocker” and medicines in this category have been used for many years by doctors to treat and prevent many different conditions, including high blood pressure, angina, irregular heartbeats, anxiety, and migraines.
In the management of migraines, Propranolol is used as a preventative – that means it’s intended to be taken each day, even if you don’t have a migraine at the time, in order to make it less likely that you will experience a migraine in the future.

Directions

Take Propranolol by mouth with a full glass of water before meals and exactly as directed. Take Propranolol on a regular schedule to get the most benefit from it. Do not take more or less of it or take it more often then prescribed by your doctor.

Precautions

Take special care with Propranolol tablets and tell your doctor if you:

• have a history of allergic reactions-suffer with muscle weakness
• havea heart weakness or first degree heart block
• have kidney or liver disease
• suffer from blood circulation problems
• have symptoms of hyperthyroidism (increased appetite, weight loss, sweating)
• suffer with or have a history of psoriasis

Contraindications

Do not take Propranolol tablets and tell your doctor if you:

• are allergic (hypersensitive) to Propranolol tablets or any of the other ingredients of this medicine
• have untreated /uncontrolled heart failure or are in shock caused by heart problems
• have a slow heart rate
• have low blood pressure
• suffer from severe blood circulation problems (which may cause your fingers and toes to tingle or turn plale or blue)
• suffer from diabetes mellitus and increased acidity of the blood (metabolic acidosis)
• suffer from asthma or any other breathing difficulties

You should not use Propranolol if you are pregnant or think you might be pregnant, or are breast-feeding or planning to breast-feed.

Possible side effect

Like all medicines, Propranolol tablets can have side effects, although not everybody gets them. Tell your doctor if any of these symptoms are severe or do not go away:

• dizziness or lightheadedness
• difficulty sleeping
• excesive tiredness
• upset stomach
• vomiting
• rash
• diarrhea
• constipation

If you experience any of the following symptoms, call your doctor immediately:

• difficulty breathing;
• sore throat;
• unusual bleeding;
• swelling of the feet or hands;
• unusual weight gain;
• chest pain;
• slow, irregular heartbeat.

Missed dose

If you miss a dose of Propranolol, take it as soon a s possible. However, if it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one.

Storage

Store Generic Propranolol 40mg at room temperature between 59-77 degrees F (15-25 degrees C) away from light and moisture. Do not store the drugs in the bathroom. Keep all drugs away from reach of children and pets.
